North Americans generally incorrectly stereotype all of Latin America with a monolithic third-world, crime ridden image. Yet how many US citizens have ever traveled to southern South America? When they do, their primary responses nearly always relate how European it feels, how friendly and helpful the people are and how much safer it feels than in big cities in the US. And indeed, its true! The region has been blessed with virtually no racial or ethnic conflicts throughout most of their extensive history.
