Uruguay |
| |
| In recent years, Uruguayan authorities gained awareness
of the economic potential involved behind film production,
and have thus supported this activity by creating
specific departments whose task is to facilitate the
filming of local and foreign projects in the country. |
| |
| One of the main offices in this area is the Locaciones
Montevideanas, a film Project within the Municipality
of Montevideo whose purpose is to provide free assistance
to producers not just for location shooting in Montevideo,
but also for those taking place in other cities. Such
an undertaking is possible thanks to the cooperation
between the Project and several other organisms
like the Ministry of Tourism and the rest of the country’s
municipalities. |

| In Argentina, logistical assistance comes through
two departments. One is the Buenos Aires Film Project
(Baset), which belongs to the municipality of Buenos
Aires and aids producers in shoots taking place in
the city’s public spaces. The other is the Comisión
Argentina de Filmación (CAF), a department
within Argentina’s National Institute of Film
and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA). Because of its dependency
on the national government, the CAF provides logistical
support to film productions in different regions of
Argentina. |
